The Christmas holidays are here and a lot of people are cooking special dishes which they usually do not do, or do rarely at other times of the year. Today we have prepared for you some recipes which are also a type of dish that people cook on special occasions.
And the main ingredient used in them is ribs. There are some people who are not big fans of ribs, but these recipes will show them that ribs can be quite delicious if one cook them in the best way possible. So, check the recipes and do not miss to try them yourselves!
#1 Slowly cooked ribs
3 pounds of baby back ribs
2 cups of barbeque sauce
¼ cup of brown sugar
4 tablespoons of cider vinegar
3 teaspoons of oregano
1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon of cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon of chili powder
salt and pepper for seasoning
First you need to make the marinara sauce for the ribs. Get a big bowl and pour in it the barbeque sauce. Then mix it with the brown sugar. You may stir them together, or add all the ingredients for the marinara sauce and then mix them well together.
Add the cider vinegar, the oregano and the Worcestershire sauce. Then add the cayenne powder and mix all the ingredients well together. You may use a whisk because it will probably be the easiest way for you to do it. When the ingredients are well mixed, leave the sauce aside while you are preparing the ribs.
Now you need to get the back ribs and to season them with salt and pepper on each side. Make sure you rub them well. Then get a deep cooking pot. If the ribs you got are two, do this: put the first of the ribs on the bottom of the pot, then pour half of the marinara sauce on top of it. Then put the other part of the ribs on top of the first one and pour on top of it the rest of the sauce.
And you are almost ready. The next thing you need to do is to cook the dish. You could cook it for 8 hours at low temperature, or at 4 hours at high temperature. You should also have a look at it every now and them, or simply every hour. And you also should flip the ribs over to be cooked evenly. Before you decide that the dish is ready, you can taste a piece of it just to be absolutely sure it does not need more cooking.
The last thing you need to do is to get the ribs out of the pot and cut them into pieces horizontally. Serve them with the rest of the marinara sauce in a small bowl and have the ribs by dipping them first in the sauce. And this is it!
#2 Prime Rib with Butter
1 boneless rib bone (5-7 pounds)
1 cup of softened butter
7 cloves of garlic
2 tablespoons of fresh rosemary
2 tablespoons of fresh thyme
2 tablespoons of salt
1 tablespoon of pepper
2 tablespoons of flour
2 cups ofbeef stock
Put the softened butter in a big bowl and add the 7 cloves of garlic. You first need to chop them, or even smash them if you prefer. Then add into the bowl the fresh rosemary and the fresh thyme. And lastly add the pepper and the salt. Mix the ingredients well together until they turn unto a thick sauce, or even paste.
Then get the baby rib and spread the butter sauce all over it. Make sure you cover each part of the rib with it. You need to use all of the sauce. So, do not forget to apply the sauce on the sides as well.
Now you need to bake the rib. The important thing is to get a baking tin with baking oven grid. This way the sauces from the rib will fall onto the tin. So, bake the rib for about 5 minutes at 260 0C. At this point the rib should be medium rare. Then turn off the oven, but do not get the rib out of it. Let is stay there for two more hours. And also do not leave the over open.
Then get the tin out of the oven and do not throw away the sauce that is in the tin. Pour it in a pan and boil it on the hot plate. When it starts boiling add the flour and the beef stock. Whisk them together. In a minute remove the pan from the hot plate. Then filter the sauce to remove any chunks which might have left from the ribs.
Slice the rib into pieces and serve it with some mashed potatoes as a garnish and some steamed asparagus. Serve it also with the beef stock sauce. You may pour some of it both on the ribs and on the mashed potatoes.
