Modern skinny jeans are number one on the market today. But let’s face it – they are so expensive at the moment because they are super trendy. Yet, we all have that one pair of old straight jeans in our wardrobe that we rarely wear. They either got old-fashioned or they stretched a lot and no longer fit nicely. Either way, there is much simple solution to that problem – turn your old pair of jeans from straight to skinny!

And the best part of it is that you only have to sew a few stitches! This DIY project will show you a step by step guide on how to transform your old jeans into new, fashionable jeans! This is definitely the case when it comes to capturing your sewing and crafting skills.

Step 1: Turn your jeans inside out and flatten out each leg. Button or zip them up so they fall as they would when you’d wear them. Now, put them on.

Step 2: Standing in front of a mirror, note the areas where you would like the jeans to fit more snugly. Use enough pins to remember how you want the jeans to look like.

Step 3: Mark both the front and back so you can sew from the easier side later. Take off the pants when you are satisfied.

Step 4: At the end cut the jeans where the pins are and sew them. Keep the jeans as flat as possible and completely together when you sew. Double check your chalk lines to make sure both legs are even.

Lastly, try on the jeans. If they feel right, turn the pants inside out and cut off the excess denim to the thread. Now, you have your new skinny jeans made from old baggy ones! What a quick and fun way to save some money.
