Vitamin C is a very common and powerful nutrient that serves many important functions. Both vitamin C powders and vitamin C pills have their benefits, and which you should choose will depend at least in part on your own personal preferences and needs. Many people prefer taking this nutrient in powdered form rather than taking capsules or tablets. Powdered form makes it suitable for those who have difficulty swallowing tablets. Powders are also particularly useful for those who wish to take large amounts of vitamin C. It is believed that the vitamin C powder is not only easier to consume, but it is also gentler on the stomach. Generally, powder gets into the system much more quickly than capsules or tablets. It is also the easiest to use as it can be added to drinks where it is fast dissolving. This product has a refreshing sharp taste similar to fruit acids such as lemons and limes, and can be used to sharpen the taste of drinks such as squashes.

The human body needs a certain dose of vitamin C every day. It protects the body from different diseases and infections, reduces allergy symptoms, acts as an antioxidant, helps the immune system work correctly, protects against free radicals and helps the body deal with pollution. Vitamin C contributes to normal psychological function. It also increases iron absorption. Generally, vitamin C Powder is safe, but it is recommended to consult a doctor before taking larger doses.

Since the human body does not manufacture or store it, it must be obtained regularly from diet. Though low level Vitamin C deficiency is common, severe deficiency (also known as Scurvy) is rare in modern times. Yet, the body needs vitamin C every day. If a person gets little or no vitamin C for many weeks, he or she can get a disease called “scurvy”. It can cause fatigue, inflammation of the gums, joint pain, small red spots on the skin and bleeding. People with scurvy can also develop anemia. Scurvy can be fatal if it is not treated on time.

Divide the needed dose into two doses throughout the day. Take one scoop orally twice daily. Since vitamin C powder has tart taste, it can be mixed or stirred in water or juice. Always take the doses with a meal. Some vitamin C powders are labeled as being food based. Since vitamin C powder has diuretic effect, it is highly recommended to drink plenty of water and other fluids, especially if taking larger doses.

The dose that a person needs usually depends on their overall health, age and stress level. For babies to 12 months, the recommended amount is 40-50 mg a day. For children to 8 years, the average dose is 20 mg. It is recommended for teenagers from 10 to 18 years old to take approximately 70 mg Vitamin C. As for adults, 90-110 mg Vitamin C a day is appropriate to achieve best results. Pregnant women must take 85 mg vitamin C and breastfeeding women – approximately 120 mg. If a person is a smoker, add 35 mg to the above values to calculate the total daily recommended amount. Do not exceed the daily amount of vitamin C because the powder may cause stomach cramps, diarrhea and nausea in sensitive individuals. If a person is not certain how much vitamin C powder his body needs, he must consult a doctor before use.

Despite its potential health benefits, vitamin C has some disadvantages as well, such as the risk for developing side effects when ingesting large doses of the nutrient. In some people, vitamin C might cause nausea, vomiting, heartburn, stomach cramps, headache, and other side effects. The chance of getting these side effects increases the more vitamin C you take. Also, chewable tablets and powdered forms of vitamin C supplements expose your teeth to more acid than vitamin C pills, which can harm your teeth unless you choose a nonacidic version and rinse your mouth out well with water afterward.

Prices for vitamin C powder tend to be reasonable, depending on the quantity. Furthermore, it is usually less expensive than capsules or tablets. Vitamin C powder can be purchased in any pharmacy, health store or online retailers.
