Are you going out with the girls tonight? If there is one thing you need to know in the makeup world is how to create the dramatic smoky eyes look! The little black dress of makeup, or most commonly referred to the smoky eye effect, elevates your evening look to something truly dramatic. Do not worry if you are a beginner at applying makeup, everything is explained! Are you ready? Let’s start with the first step of this going out smoky eye tutorial.

Before applying any makeup on, creating a flawless base that brightens and enhances your final overall look is an essential first step that shouldn’t be missed. Choose the right shade of primer for your skin type and apply it to your eyelid. Wait a couple of minutes until the primer absorbs.

With the help of a fluffy brush, apply dark brown creamy eyeshadow to your eyelid. Instead of sweeping the makeup brush back and forth across your eyelid in a fast motion, it’s better if you use short, slow brush strokes. This way you will better cover the eye area. Deepen the colour by applying more shadow on top. Smudge away any harsh lines.

Use another soft, fluffy brush to gently blend the bronze shadow towards the crease. Move the brush in little circles across your lid.

Now it’s time to outline your lower waterline with the black eye pencil. To do this, gently run your pencil near the base of your lower eyelashes several times. If your hand feels unsteady, rest your pinky finger on your cheek for extra stability. Then, smudge the pencil with your brush.

Grab your favourite black eyeliner and gently draw a thin, delicate line on your upper lash line. For more subtle and natural look, try to make the line as thin and precise as possible.

As a final step, apply black mascara on both your top and bottom lashes to achieve more natural, glamorous smoky eye look. Your smoky effect is not complete without hot eyelashes! Use tweezers to place the strip on your eyelid, positioning it as close as possible to your natural lashes. As a final touch, coat top and bottom lashes with waterproof mascara. This will also help in blending your natural lashes with the false ones. You can even try mascara that contains a little bit of sparkle!
