Busy weeks full of cramming for finals, holiday parties, and making last-minute winter break plans can lead to snooze button abuse and no time for hair washing and blow drying. Skipping shampoo a few times a week leads to healthier strands, but it can also leave your hair looking a little flat or greasy after a day or two. Enters the twisted bun! It’s a super pretty way to disguise day-old hair, and it’s ridiculously easy to recreate. Check out the step by step below.

For this tutorial you will need a comb, rubber bands and enough bobby pins to make the twists and bun secured in place. Now, follow the simple steps below and you will learn how to recreate this amazing hairstyle!

Step 1: Brush your locks through to ensure they’re smooth and free from tangles.

Step 2: Separate your hair into three sections – two on each side of your head and a larger section at the back. Secure the back section into a high bun with a rubber band.

Step 3: Apply mousse to the loose parts of your hair to add extra texture and shine.

Step 4: Tease the front sections with your comb. This will make sure that your bun is with added volume.

Step 5: Place a donut at the base of the pony and secure it with enough bobby pins to keep it secured.

Step 6: Take the two front sections and wrap them around the base of the pony by twisting them and pinning them in place. Take the other twist and wrap it on top of the first twist.

Step 7: Secure the rest of the ponytail around with a bobby pin.

Step 8: Finally, mist a hairspray all over your chic twisted bun to protect your hairstyle from falling down easily.
