There are alternative ways of getting warm in the chilly weather, which is already here as we hear more often the Christmas bells. You can’t rely only on your warm blanket, you have to combine it with a hot, delicious beverage for instance. But not just any kind of drink, we are talking about exotic drinks in here. Take a look and choose your favorite warming drink:
Glogg. That drink originates from the Scandinavian countries. There are non-alcoholic versions of it, but the original drink has a base of port wine. Another alcohols that can be added are whiskey, brandy or vodka. It is sweet because of the sugar. It is also full of spices: cinnamon sticks, cardamom, cloves, orange zests, raisins and even some fruits. It is served hot.

And here is the recipe:

1 bottle of red wine, dry
1 bottle port
2 cups water
1 1/2 cups Cognac, brandy, rum or vodka
Zest of 1 orange
10 cardamom pods
2 sticks cinnamon
10 whole cloves
5 slices peeled fresh ginger
Granulated sugar
10 teaspoons raisins
10 teaspoons blanched almonds

In a saucepan, mix together all of the ingredients except for the sugar, the raisins and the almonds.
Boil the mixture and once boiled, reduce the heat and let simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool. Then store it in the fridge between 12 and 24 hours.
Strain the mixture. Reheat the it, but don’t boil. Add the sugar and stir until it melts. Use the raisins and the almonds as decoration in the cups and stir the mixture. Serve while it’s hot.

Moroccan mint tea. Personally, my favorite hot drink. The mint tea is the most popular warm beverage in Morocco. To make this tea you will need:
1 tablespoon loose Chinese gunpowder green tea
5 cups boiling water
3-4 tablespoons sugar
1 ounce fresh mint

Indian chai. The base of the drink is a strong black tea. It is sweetened, mixed with milk and spices. If you want to make this drink make sure that you have these ingredients:
1/2 teaspoon cardamom seeds or ground cardamom
1 cinnamon stick
4 peppercorns
1/4 teaspoon fennel seeds
2 cups whole milk
Brown sugar to taste
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
2 cups water
5 teaspoons loose orange pekoe tea or other black tea

These beverages are just a few interesting winter drinks, gathered from all over the world. If are craving for new flavors and experiences, you should definitely try some of the exotic drinks for chilly weather. And the Christmas holidays seem to be the perfect time for these new things to be tried. Remember to have fun and to stay warm with a tasty drink in one hand and a delicious candy in the other. See you soon!
