There are a lot of people who like eating pizza but do not do it regularly because this dish is often fattening and contains a lot of calories. There are also people who avoid eating pizza because it is not very healthy. So, what to do when you are in such a dilemma? To eat healthy foods, or to stick to your favorite dishes even if they are quite caloric? Just have healthy kind of pizza! Today we are going to show you how to turn your favorite not-so-healthy dish into a super healthy one. Here it is!
½ cup of mozzarella
½ teaspoon of dried oregano
½ teaspoon of dried basil
½ teaspoon of salt
½ teaspoon of garlic powder
1 cup of cherry tomatoes
1 cup of mozzarella
some red onion (optional)
The first thing you need to do to is to prepare the dough for the pizza. As you probably know already is that the dough for this pizza will be made of cauliflower. That is why you need to divide it into small pieces with your hands. Then you could chop it very thinly, or you could use a blender to do the chopping for you. Remember that it needs to be very finely chopped.
Then put the chopped cauliflower in a bowl and put it in the microwave for 4 minutes to warm it up and to get it softer and squashier. When the time is up, get the bowl out of the microwave and put the cauliflower in some cheesecloth. Roll it inside it and start squeezing it so the water from the cauliflower drains.
That is why you need to make sure you squeeze it strongly. This way the cheesecloth will keep all the small cauliflower pieces inside it and will not let them fall and at the same time the water from it will be drained.
Once the cauliflower is drained, put it back in the big bowl and add the spices: the oregano, the basil, the salt, and the garlic powder. Then add ½ cup of mozzarella and one egg into the bowl as well. Mix all the ingredients well so all the cauliflower gets seasoned and the mixture becomes homogeneous. And this will be the dough for the pizza.
Get a baking tin now and line it with some baking paper. This way you would not have to use cooking oil to apply it on the tin which will be some extra calories as well. Pour the dough onto the tin with baking paper and spread it evenly. You could also give it the typical round shape for a pizza. Use your hands to even it up. And then bake it at 260 0C for 15 minutes. When the time is up, remove the tin from the oven.
Now when the pizza crust is ready, you need to move on and add the other ingredients for the pizza. Apply some tomato sauce all over the top part of the crust. You will need about 3 tablespoon of tomato sauce but you can add less or more depending on your personal taste.
Then sprinkle 1 cup of mozzarella evenly on top of the tomato sauce. Slice the mushrooms and add them as well. You could also add a few pieces of onions and peppers if you like.
And when you have put all the pizza ingredients on top of the crust, you need to bake it for 5-7 more minutes at 260 0C. And that is it! You can enjoy your healthy cauliflower pizza!
