There are a lot of women who avoid eating any kind of dough because they consider it too fattening. However, this does not mean that you should forget about pastry forever. You can have some bread, cake, or another delicious dish which includes dough once or twice a month.
This way you will still have the chance to try some delicious recipe without feeling guilty about it. And if you already want to have some, then I suggest you have a look at these homemade bread recipes. Who knows, you may fall in love with bread again.
Chicken stuffed bread
The first recipe is very easy to make because you will not have to knead your own bread, but use a ready-made one and add some stuffing. This recipe is also perfect for an appetizer, or even an idea for brunch. Here is what you need to do.
1 chicken breast
1 loaf of French bread
8 pieces of mozzarella
1/3 cup of melted butter
3 cloves of garlic
1 tablespoon of parsley
1 tablespoon of parmesan
First you need to boil the chicken breast. You can fry it, but it would be healthier to boil it instead. Put it in some boiling water for about 15-20 minutes. The meat should be almost ready for eating when you get it out of the boiling water. Then leave it aside to cool down a little.
After that cut the chicken breast diagonally into 8 more or less equal pieces. Roll each one of the pieces in a piece of mozzarella.
Then cut the loaf of French bread in 4 big pieces and remove the inner part of it so you leave room for the stuffing. Put two pieces of chicken breast in each one of the 4 pieces of French bread and then cut them into smaller pieces – cut each one of the big loaf pieces into 3 equal ones. Put the pieces back together the way the loaf of bread was before you cut it.
After that get a bowl and mix in it the melted butter, the parsley, the parmesan, and the garlic cloves which need to be mashed beforehand. Mix everything well.
Now get a baking tin and some cooking foil. Line the tin with the foil and put the French bread on top. Apply the whole garlic mixture equally on the loaf of bread with a cooking brush.Wrap the loaf of bread in the cooking foil and bake it at 175 0C for about 20 minutes.
When the time is up, remove it from the oven and serve it while it is still hot. You could garnish it with some tomato sauce, or another one to your taste. And you are ready!
Cheese & Pesto Bread
250 grams of bread flour
1 teaspoon of yeast
½ teaspoon of salt
150 ml warm water
1 teaspoon olive oil
150 grams of pesto
a handful of cheddar
a handful of mozzarella
First, you need to get a bowl and put in it the bread flour. Then add the salt and the yeast. Mix them a little before you add the warm water and the olive oil. Then mix everything well with a spoon. When the mixture gets a bit thicker you need to knead it.
Spread some flour on your kitchen table and knead the dough for about 7-10 minutes. When you are ready, put the dough back in the bowl, which you need to smear with a couple of drops of olive oil, and leave it in a warm place for about an hour to leaven.
When this time is up you need to divide the dough into small ball pieces. Roll each one of the pieces in the pesto and line them in a small baking thin. And then leave in again in a warm place to leaven for about an hour again.
When the dough has risen enough, sprinkle it with a handful of cheddar and a handful of parmesan. Finally, you need to bake it for about 20-25 minutes at 180 0C.
Serve it while it is still warm. You could garnish it with some sauce or not, whichever you prefer. Enjoy your dishes and do not forget to treat your guests with them. Bon appétit!
