People wear flip flops and sandals barefoot in the summer to let their skin breathe and to make sure their feet are not too warm. Such kind of shoes areactually a double-edged sword because they may cool your feet down, but at the same time may cause some blisters and wounds.

People need to pay special attention to the health of their feet even if at this time they do not think this is something urgent to deal with. Today we have prepared for you some advices and tips how to care properly for your feet during the summer, and not only then. Check them out!

#1 Soak your feet

The first thing you can consider doing if you want to take care of your feet is to soak them in water every night before going to bed. You can do this for half an hour and at the same time you can do other things as well, like reading a book, or watching the news even.

For the soaking mixture you will need a bucket with lukewarm water. Then add one cup of Epsom salt and one tablespoon of baking soda. Mix the ingredients well until the salt dissolves completely in the water.

Then add a couple of some essential oil mixture and stir the water mixture once again. The essential oils will add a nice scent to your feet.

And after that you need to soak your feet for half an hour. What you need to have in mind is that your feet need to be clean, so you need to wash them beforehand.

When you have done soaking your feet, you need to dry them using a clean towel. And after that you need to move on to the next step.

#2 Moisturize

The next thing you need to do if you want to treat your feet properly in the summer is to moisturize them regularly. It is very hard to do this in the morning since you will have to get up, go to work or school and you will not feel that comfortable walking with feet with cream on them. If you moisturize your feet right before going to be, you will let them absorb as much as possible from the cream and at the same time this will not irritate you or get in your way.

And if you are wondering what kind of product to choose for moisturizing, then stick to feet cream. Or you can also choose some other cream with deep hydration. It is very important that the cream is such one because the skin on your feet is very thick and in order to moisturize it, you will need some cream with deep hydration and you need to apply a thick layer of it as well. Massage your feet gently and let your skin absorb the moisturizing cream. And then you can go to bed.

#3 Exfoliate

You probably know that exfoliation is very important for everyone’s skin. In order to keep it hydrated and fresh you need to remove the dead skin cells and to stimulate the blood flow to reach the outer layer of your skin.

And since foot skin in the summer gets very thick and dry, it needs to be exfoliated every once in a while. At first you may do it twice a week, or even three times a week, then, when your skin condition has improved, you could make it once a week only.

Nowadays there are different ways you can exfoliate your feet, including some mechanic tools. If you do not have one, you could use the well-known pumice to exfoliate your feet skin. Make sure you rub it well to exfoliate deeply, but at the same time be careful not to hurt your skin.

When it comes to the time of the day when to exfoliate your feet, you could choose the time before you go to bed and before you have your feet soaked. You also need to make sure you moisturize your feet after exfoliating them because exfoliation often leaves the skin a bit dry. This way you will complete the cycle and will improve the condition of your feet.
