Step 1: The first thing you need to do is add volume to your hair. Since this is a big bun, you need to do a lot of teasing. Select what part of your hair needs more volume and hold it straight upward. Place your comb in the roots and apply firm brush strokes downward to the scalp. Use hairspray to secure the volume. Repeat the procedure with the next small sections of hair. You can add some additional hairspray all over your hair to keep the volume in place longer.

Step 2: Separate a top front rectangular section. Roll and pin this section away.

Step 3: Make a side ponytail from the rest of your hair, making sure that the hair is smooth and free of flyaways. Tie the section loosely into a low ponytail.

Step 4: Use your hands to separate the pony into two relatively equal sections.

Step 5: Tease one of the ponytails, concentrating most on the hair underneath the top section.

Step 6: Smooth the teased section with a brush.

Step 7: As for the other pony, add two additional clear hair bands as shown.

Step 8: Repeat these steps for the other ponytail too.

Step 9: Now work with the ponytail which is closest to your ear. Take this section and then bend and fold each of the three areas and secure with bobby pins as you go.

Step 10: Next up, repeat the previous step for the other ponytail. Yet this time folding and pinning the hair in the opposite direction.

Step 11: Add some hair pins on the side to keep the bun in place.

Step 12: If you wish to add framing pieces, simply style your bags as you’d like. Curl the front sections with a curling iron.

Step 13: Make the bangs retro by pinning them next to the big bun. As a final touch, you can apply firm-hold hairspray and you are all good to go!
