#1 Fiesta de San Fermin, Spain

You have probably heard that one of the things Spain is famous for is the corrida, also called bullfighting. This is one of the symbols of the country even if there are a lot of people who are opposed to it. Apart from the bullfighting at the corrida, there is a specific festival again connected to bulls and this is Fiesta de San Fermin.

This festival is also called Running of the Bulls. As you can guess from the very name of the festival, this is the one when hundreds of people run on the streets of Pamplona chased by raging bulls. Unfortunately, there are many accidents and people being run over bulls. That is why one should be very careful and to be aware of the risks when participating.

The festival takes place from the 6th to the 14th July this year.

#2 Camel Cup, Australia

There are a lot of festivals and sports events in Australia but you probably would not guess that one of them involved camels. Camels are not the type of animals one would associate with Australia. Well, surprise, surprise, it turns out that there are not only camels, but also camel racing in Australia.

This festival takes place in the Northern Territory of Australia, which is in fact the least populated part of the country. It will surely be an interesting experience for those of you who have not been to this part of the country and who have not seen camel racing.

You still need to be prepared and to know that camels are sometimes not as innocent as they look. They can gnarl, bite and spit, yes, the famous spit of the camels. So if you want to watch, make sure you keep your distance. And if you visit this part of the country in July, make sure you visit some of the other festivals held there at this time of the year, like belly dancing and rickshaw racing ones.

#3 Wife-Carrying Championship, Finland

There is quite an interesting festival, and I could add a bit strange, which is held on the first Saturday in July in Sonkajärvi, Finland. As you can guess from the name this is a competition in which men race while carrying wives by the legs.

There are some rules, of course, one of which is that the woman should not weigh less than 49 kilos. And if the carrier drops their load, they have a penalty and have to wait for 15 seconds or so to join in the race once again.

This festival dates back to the 19th century. Nowadays it is a symbol of manliness and strength. And of course, this is a fun way to revive old traditions and to spend some time with your partner, or why not meet your potential partner this way.

#4 Marrakesh Arts Festival, Morocco

If you are interested in the Arabian cultures, then a festival in Morocco will be a suitable way for you to get to know the culture better. The festival takes place in Marrakesh for 5 days in mid July and people from Northern Africa gather there to show their artistic abilities and to sell some of their goods.

If you decide to attend the festival, you will see a lot of traditional artists, like fortune-tellers, fire-swallowers, and snake-charmers. There will be also a lot of street stalls where you can by some traditional food, clothes, and, of course, souvenirs. The festival will show a huge deal of the culture of the country and you will surely not get bored if you decide to attend it.
