Nowadays there are a lot of different recipes which people can try. One can choose whether to choose the same ingredients or to change them a little. And one can also choose the method of cooking. People nowadays prefer to cook healthy meals because they know how important food is for one’s wellbeing.
Today we have prepared for you a couple of recipes with a healthy ingredient which you can try on your own. And the main ingredient will be sweet potato. It is nutritious and filling. It is a great type of food perfect for people on a diet.
#1 Mashed sweet potatoes
4-5 medium size sweet potatoes
2 tablespoons of butter
¼ cup of heavy cream
3 cloves of garlic
1 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of pepper
First you need to wash the sweet potatoes with some water and then to boil them in a deep pot. Make sure you heat the water and when it starts boiling to add the potatoes in the pot. Boil them until they become tender.
When the potatoes are boiled, take the pot off the hot plate and peel them. You may need to wash them with cold water to make them cool down, or just to wait for them to cool down.
Put the peeled potatoes in a deep pan and then mash them completely until there are no hard pieces left. Then melt the butter and then add it into the mashed potatoes. Add the heavy cream and season everything with salt and pepper. Mix all the ingredients well together. And voila! The dish is ready.
You can serve it in small bowls as a side dish, or even as a starter. You can also have it with tacos. You can also season it with some dill or rosemary if you like.
#2 Sweet potato fries
The next recipes is called this way, but it actually involves no frying but baking which makes it healthier than French fries and as delicious as them. So, here is what you need to do for this recipe.
2 big sweet potatoes
2 tablespoons of cornstarch
1 tablespoon of olive oil
½ teaspoon of black pepper
½ teaspoon of paprika
½ teaspoon of garlic powder
½ teaspoon of brown sugar powder
salt to taste
First you need to wash the potatoes and to peel them. Then you need to slice the potatoes into thin vertical lines. Then cut the slices into French fries pieces.
Once the pieces are cut, you need to soak them into a bowl of water for 1 hour. When the time is put, drain the water from the potatoes. You can also put them on a towel which will take the extra water from them.
Then put the potato pieces into a clean bowl. Sprinkle the cornstarch on them, then the olive oil. Use your hands to apply equally the two ingredients on the potatoes.
Then add the black pepper, the paprika, the garlic powder, and the brown sugar. Mix the ingredients well, so that the potatoes are equally seasoned.
Once the potatoes are seasoned, you need to bake them. For this you will need a baking tin and some baking paper. Put a sheet of baking paper on the bottom of the tin and place the potato pieces on it. Make sure there is some distance between the separate pieces.
Then you need to bake the potatoes for 25-30 minutes at 220 0C. Then take the tin out of the oven and add salt to taste to the potatoes.
You can serve them while they are still warm and you can add some grated cheddar cheese on top if you like.
