Tips on How to Make Your Hair Smooth, Shiny and Healthy

Every woman wants to have smooth and silky hair. Short or long, curly or straight – shiny hair always gives a good impression. Yet, we often don’t have the time to take care of it properly mainly because it takes too much time out of our busy schedule to carefully blow-dry it, apply regular leave-in treatments and wash it with gentle conditioners. Lucky for you, taking care of your hair does not necessarily mean spending bucket loads of money on products that may or may not work for your hair. Instead, it can be as simple as utilizing natural ingredients that are known to work wonders for your hair. Light-catching sheen first starts with the overall health of your hair, but how you care for it and the products you use to nourish, protect, and condition it play a big part, too. Below, we have put together the many different ways in which you can get shiny hair without having to step out of your house.


In order to avoid split ends, it is very important to trim your hair regularly, every 6-8 weeks. Good hygiene is an essential part of keeping your hair clean. It is recommended to wash your hair twice a week with a good-quality shampoo. If the shampoo is not good, it usually irritates the skin and leaves the hair dry, damaged or oily. Avoid using hot water when washing your hair. It is much more unpleasant to take a cold shower to your head than a hot one. However, there are some cases where cold water is definitely the best choice for your hair. Rinsing your hair with cold water helps with closing your cuticle after your hair is washed. Just like with closing the hair cuticle, cold water also shuts your pores. In fact, if your pores are sealed then you are also much less likely to be suffering from hair shedding.


Using coconut oil is a wonderful natural way to make your hair soft, radiant, and healthy. What is more, coconut oil helps nourish your strands with its rich triglyceride content. It also has the ability to penetrate deep into your hair shafts, allowing for optimum nourishment.  Scoop 2 spoons of coconut oil out of the jar and put it into a glass cup. Use extra virgin coconut oil and, if possible, make sure that it’s organic and sustainably harvested. Pour the coconut oil around the top of your head, evenly distributing it on your hair, but you might want to avoid the scalp and roots unless your hair is especially dry. Do this as many times as needed. Apply some aloe Vera gel before going to bed as a spot treatment or as an overnight moisturizer. Aloe Vera is an abundant source of proteolytic enzymes which repair the damaged cells present in your scalp. This allows it to improve follicle health and boost hair growth. Try mixing aloe Vera gel with few drops of vitamin E oil and use it as night gel. You won’t have that greasy feeling with it.


Apply small amount of body lotion to your hair root in order to nourish your hair at night. Running lotion through your hair can make it seem extra soft and shiny and adding a lotion to your ends can relieve heat damage and get rid of fly-away hairs.


Even though sleeping seems peaceful enough, you don’t totally know what goes on when you shut your eyes and fall asleep. Don’t go to bed with tons of tangles in your hair that could only get worse while you’re tossing in the night. If you are comfortable sleeping with your hair up, then tie your hair into a loose loop on the very top of your head with a scarf or hair band. As you are about to sleep with this bun, make sure it is rather comfortable than looking good. Another option is to use stockings. It may sound a bit crazy at first, but putting nylon stockings on your hair actually works! First make a bun and then use your nylon stocking to make a bun. Secure with bobby pins if needed. This trick helps you achieve soft and smooth hair when you will wake up in the morning.
