There are a lot of people who do not much about Chile. They know that it is a South American country and probably that the capital city is Santiago, but that is as far as their information goes. If you are one of these people, I must say that you have been missing a lot about this amazing country. We have prepared for you a list of the top places to visit in Chile, and no, there is not a chilly factory included in it.
#1 Cerro San Cristobal
There are a lot of hills in Chile, but Cerro San Cristobal is a really special one, because it is in the northern part of the capital Santiago and once you climb it there will be a breathtaking view of the whole city in front of you. You just have to choose a clear day to do this.
Do not worry if you are not into climbing, because you can reach Cerro San Cristobal by cable car. When you go there you can also visit the church and be amazed by the 22 meter statue of Virgin Mary. It is definitely worth the visit.
#2 San Rafael Glacier
If you are too warm, you can always find some coolness if you visit the glacier San Rafael. It is named after the place where it is located – Laguna San Rafael National Park. The greatest thing about it is not only its beauty, but the trip you need to take to reach it.
You can do it by boat or by plane, but the experience will be much more memorable if you do it by boat, because you will get into the “glacier” mood even before you have reached it.
#3 Easter Island
There is probably not a person who has not heard of the Easter Island, or seen pictures of the statues on the island. The island is part of Chile and it is situated in the Pacific Ocean. However, it is one of the most isolated islands on earth, because it is miles away from the continent.
If you go there you will be almost in the center of the South Pacific. Even though it is so hard to reach, the island is a popular tourist destination because of the famous moai statues, which were created centuries ago. And they are one of the New 7 Wonders.
If you are tired of visiting isolated places, do not worry, because Chile has still a lot to offer. One of the cities you should definitely pay a visit to, if you go there, is Valparaiso. It is located on the Pacific coast in the central part of the country, but surprisingly, it is not the beaches that make a top destination in Chile, but its colorful houses. The city has an amazing bohemian spirit. The houses are colorfully painted that when a person takes a look at the whole city they are left with positive feelings and good vibes.
#5 Los Pinguinos
Do you love animals? Have you always wanted to see penguins in their natural habitat? If you go to Chile, you will have this opportunity. The natural monument “Los Pinguinos” is in the southernmostpart of the city. And this is the place where you can witness some of the largest penguin colonies.
It is located on a small island, which (unlike the Easter Islands) is very close to the main land – it is about 35 km from it. The best time of the year to visit the island is in September and October when the penguins migrate there each year.
